Why do we need your support?

I believe that the theatre is a public arena for a community to share experiences: to identify dilemmas, negotiate differences, mourn great losses and celebrate our triumphs. Every W!LD RICE show looks to excite and delight audiences – inspiring laughter, provoking thought and challenging assumptions.

W!LD RICE has served and entertained the Singapore community for over 8 years, presenting more than 25 productions to an audience of over 250,000. We have also consistently toured our home-grown works internationally to great acclaim. A commitment to innovation and quality informs every aspect of the work, which is first and foremost a celebration of Singapore theatrical and creative talent.

But we are restless to do more. We want to invest in the future of theatre by developing and presenting new and original work in a creative, secure and optimistic environment. We want to be able to stage the Singapore Theatre Festival as a major biennial event. We want to revolutionise arts education in schools and nurture young talents through our First Stage and Young & W!LD programmes. We want to be able to continue to share the magic of theatre with families at our year-end Musical Pantomimes. And in spite of rising production and operational costs, we are determined to keep ticket prices affordable.

We receive less than 10% of our annual operating expenditure from the National Arts Council. Everything else has to be raised. Sponsorship and ticket sales help enormously, but this is not enough to realise our plans.
